The Fish at Mr. Chow

NBA star Derek Fisher is back in L.A. to rejoin the Lakers, and more importantly, to care for his ailing daughter. A true champion!

Fisher, who has three championship rings with the Lakers, was released by the Utah Jazz at the end of last season so he could spend time caring for his one-year-old daughter, Tatum, who was diagnosed with a rare eye cancer earlier this year.

Fisher and his wife, Candace, were headed into Mr. Chow for dinner last night, and when asked how his daughter was doing, Fisher said, "Doin' great," and gave a big thumbs up.

4. The true definition of a man is not how macho he pretends to be, it is how he accepts responsibility and treats those he loves. Derek Fisher is a true man in every sense of the word. God bless him and his family and wish his daughter a full and cancer free life. Way too young to have to deal with something like that.. He is one of those rare athletes that has his priorities in the right place...at home with his family. We could all learn something from him.

9. Good to see TMZ can report some good news once in a while and not always focusing on the trainwrecks (as much as we all love those trainwrecks)

And I am also glad to see that there are still some athletes out there that you can actually look up to and say 'now that is an admirable guy.'

12. Mr. Fisher, God Bless your daughter and your family in this time of hardship. Dealing with a child with a rae disease is extremely difficult, they are underresearched and underdiagnosed. My daughter has FMF, Familial Mediterranean Fever, a mutation of the 16th chromosome. This is an etnic disease, armenians, Turks, Greeks and persons of Jewish descent. majority afflicted are Turkish children. My daughter is half Turkish and we have tried for 8 years to find out what was wrong with her. It is indeed difficult in this country to find a doctor whom will listen to you and hear WHAT you say, we reached the point where they finally decided it was mental. Repeated requests on our part, as parents, for her to be tested for FMF went unheeded. We found a Turkish generalist/Pediatrician and she was diagnosed withn FMF within 2 weeks. It can make you stronger as a family or tear you down watching your baby suffer so. i hope the beat for your daughter and your family. You will remain in our prayers. Peace and grace be upon you and your lovely daughter.
