Miss USA Dethroned?

TMZ has learned that officials from the Miss USA pageant will make a "major announcement" today and may strip reigning Miss USA Tara Conner of her title due to inappropriate behavior.

Sources tell TMZ that executives from the Miss USA organization and NBC (which broadcasts the pageant) met Tuesday to discuss Conner and alleged incidents of her inappropriate behavior, including her conduct at New York City bars. While no one from the pageant would comment on the rumored troubles, several sources tell TMZ that a big announcement is expected some time Thursday. According to these sources, officials are extremely unhappy with the current Miss USA's conduct in public.

Pageant rules say that if Connor is removed, first runner-up Miss California Tamiko Nash will assume the duties of Miss USA and complete the remainder of the beauty queen's reign. When TMZ contacted a rep for Nash, we were told they could "neither confirm nor deny" that she would be taking over the title.

Twenty-year-old Conner, who hails from Russell Springs, Kentucky, was crowned Miss USA in April of 2006. As part of her duties Connor often takes part in high profile media events. She recently boarded the Black Pearl for a "Pirates of the Caribbean" promotion in Baltimore.

UPDATE: Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, told CNN that "Reports that Miss USA is being 'dethroned' are absolutely not true." He then said that Conner is "going through some personal problems and difficulties right now which could affect her ability to reign. We are right now looking into what we can do to work with her and what we will do about her reign going forward."

UPDATE: The Miss USA Organization has issued the following statement: "Miss USA Tara Conner has not been dethroned. The Miss Universe Organization and Mr. Donald J. Trump will be evaluating her behavioral and personal issues to see what we can do to work with her, and what we will do about her reign going forward. Mr. Trump will make a determination and announcement within the coming week."

76. Egads! A lot of your comments are downright nasty concerning someone you 1) don't even know, 2) an incident which may not have taken place (Trump is denying it). While I am not a fan of pagents at all, there is no reason to trash the girl in such contemptuous language! A "slut"? a "little sh**"? Do you even KNOW this girl?

(And people say religious folks are judgmental! I hope none of these contemptuous remarks are coming from devout Christians, Jews, or Muslims!)

I dunno, Rita. Perhaps she should lose her title because the contract specifically says she can't act inappropriately as she, indeed did. It wasn't a surprise clause sprung on her. She knew the terms. I think she's the one who needs to grow up and accept responsibility for her actions and accept the consequences!

If she can't fulfil the terms of a stinking one-year contract, how can she be trusted to do anything. People need to stop making stupid excuses for irresponsibility.

It's all quite simple: If she agrees to the terms of an agreement that says she can't do X or she'll lose her title and she does X anyway, the she SHOULD lose her title. DUH, it's such a no-brainer, I can't believe you could see it any other way; unless, of course, you're one of those people who has trouble with responsibility.

80. If its because shes been dancing on tables then who really cares. She isnt the Miss Teen USA shes the Miss USA. Miss USA's are 18-up if not older than 18. I understand there should be 'morality' clauses, but for the most part let her live how she wants. As long as shes single or is in a 'swinging' relationship then if she wants to dance on tables, fine, if she wants to take home a different guy every night, fine. I can understand them not wanting her to do Playboy or something like that. But after her one year reign is over she should be free to do what she wants. And since when is Donald Trump the Morality King? Good lord. This isnt the 'Miss Religious USA' or 'Miss Traditional USA' here. Its just...Miss USA.

82. It's fun to read the comments from the idiots from the city as they judge everyone. Most of them couldn't survive three days without the local grocery store. Totally dependent on others, and that makes them experts. I was born in the country and live in the country, but have traveled the world and lived in or near a lot of large cities. Nothing beats the country, why do you think people with a brain are deserting the liberal cities by the millions. They have reconized the mental retardation and outright criminal insanity of almost the entire population in the major cities.

84. Tara is not from "the hills." As someone pointed out the mountainous region of Kentucky is in Eastern Kentucky. Where Tara is from is South Central Kentucky.

None of us yet knows what she is even being accused of so who are we to say what should or should not happen to her? I am willing to bet however that she is probably not doing anything any other 20 year old isnt doing.

You make a good point. However, I don't think she's an idiot and therefore she understood her obligations when she accepted the crown. Rules of decency may seem unfair or even old-fashioned. These rules have been in place since the inception of the competition. Maybe they could be updated; not knowing what she's done makes it had to say. However, any changes would be up to the discretion of the competition committee and Donald Trump, not Miss Connor. If she feels that the rules infringe upon her rights as in individual, she always has the option to step down.

Also, It looks like she is not being reprimanded based one incident. I suppose that she could have made a scene in several bars in one night. But I am assuming that this behavior has been in play for some time. If so, she might have already received several warnings. And well, she's worn out her welcome.

Hey Scrap; You are way off the mark in your sweeping generalization. That's a nice way of saying you're a stupid country-ass buffoon without a clue what the hell you're talking about. How can you see with your head so far up and lockes anyway.

I'm from the city and I'm not a liberal. I've been in a true survival situation, not just without food/water but with people trying to kill me at the same time. In a survival situation, I'd be alive well after your dumb ass has starved to death or committed suicide after running out of Red Man. Hell, I bet you probably use all 5 or 6 of your remaining natural teeth when you eat what you've forraged in the wilds. Christ! Gimme' a break.
