Miss USA Dethroned?

Miss USATMZ has learned that officials from the Miss USA pageant will make a "major announcement" today and may strip reigning Miss USA Tara Conner of her title due to inappropriate behavior.

Sources tell TMZ that executives from the Miss USA organization and NBC (which broadcasts the pageant) met Tuesday to discuss Conner and alleged incidents of her inappropriate behavior, including her conduct at New York City bars. While no one from the pageant would comment on the rumored troubles, several sources tell TMZ that a big announcement is expected some time Thursday. According to these sources, officials are extremely unhappy with the current Miss USA's conduct in public.

Pageant rules say that if Connor is removed, first runner-up Miss California Tamiko Nash will assume the duties of Miss USA and complete the remainder of the beauty queen's reign. When TMZ contacted a rep for Nash, we were told they could "neither confirm nor deny" that she would be taking over the title.

Tara Connor: Click to watchTwenty-year-old Conner, who hails from Russell Springs, Kentucky, was crowned Miss USA in April of 2006. As part of her duties Connor often takes part in high profile media events. She recently boarded the Black Pearl for a "Pirates of the Caribbean" promotion in Baltimore.

UPDATE: Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, told CNN that "Reports that Miss USA is being 'dethroned' are absolutely not true." He then said that Conner is "going through some personal problems and difficulties right now which could affect her ability to reign. We are right now looking into what we can do to work with her and what we will do about her reign going forward."

UPDATE: The Miss USA Organization has issued the following statement: "Miss USA Tara Conner has not been dethroned. The Miss Universe Organization and Mr. Donald J. Trump will be evaluating her behavioral and personal issues to see what we can do to work with her, and what we will do about her reign going forward. Mr. Trump will make a determination and announcement within the coming week."

16. #6, a lot of people have a little roots these days. It looks like a new style or something. Her's doesn't look that bad. Well if you don't stare at them to long.

17. I'm completely taken back by the way our society is quick to judge. So she drinks a little...or even if she drinks a lot. She's barely out of her teenage years! She's enjoying life a little. what makes you all so perfect? You know how many congressmen we have in the White House with a documented criminal record? What about our role-models in the NBA and NFL...or any sport for that matter. We still look up to them when they get a DUI, or we're quick to forgive when they beat their spouse or get caught in an affair. I suppose the only reason we're not putting them on the cross is because they're not "beautiful" like Conner. I understand that role models should be held to a higher standard, but by reading the language in some of the comments above, its obvious that some of you never had good role models. So what does it matter anyway....

18. Exactly Stephen!

She is Miss USA, won scholarships and money...so if she is "acting" inappropriate, then she should be stripped of her crown and money....Pagents are Big Business.....

Miss America is right up there with the celebs like Paris and Nicole...WHAT do they do ??? SHop, Party???? If they can't condone themselves with decency, then get out of the public eye...I'm tired of seeing the same old nasty behavor from these young, talentless girls.....

22. We have been expecting this all along. You know that you need to act like a lady at all times and you have been taught better. You have not only embarrassed your hometown people, your family, the Miss USA pagent folks but surely you should have some shame for your behavior. You are held to a higher standard and those of us with young girls know that you are a representative of girls everywhere. Shame on you.

So, You can take the girl out of the KYntry but not the KYntry out of the girl?

25. M Maybe in our lifetime this archaic, paternalistic pimping out of women being judged solely on their looks and an unrealistic male fantasy of what the "perfect woman" should be and act like will finally go the way of the dinosaurs.

29. Just because Miss USA is from Kentucky, please do not stereotype Kentucky women. I am proud to be born and raised in Kentucky. I am highly educated and own a nice home in a nice neighborhood. I have lived in several other states, but I chose to come back to Kentucky because it's actually one of the few decent places to raise children nowadays! If you want good family values and traditions, find a small town in Kentucky! I wouldn't live anywhere else!
